Indonesian legislative election, 2014
The 2014 Indonesian legislative elections to elect members of the Regional Representative Council and 560 seats of the People's Representative Council (DPR) will take place on 9 April 2014.
A total of 46 parties registered to take part in the election, and these will now be verified by the General Elections Commission to ensure they meet the requirements, which are stricter than in previous elections. They include representation in every Indonesian province and a 30 percent female membership. Initially all parties with seats in the People's Representative Council were to be allowed to contest the election without the need for verification, but on 29 August 2012, Indonesia's Constitutional Court overturned this provision, obliging all parties to undergo the process.
