Pluit
Pluit is an administrative district located in Penjaringan, North Jakarta. The residential area is mainly inhabited by Chinese origin. They run many Chinese restaurants in nearby Muara Karang.
Several schools in Pluit are BTB International School, Diakonia Catholic School, Tarakanita, IPEKA, BPK Penabur, Permai, Diakonia and STM 12.

Instead, the name was derived from the word fluitschip, which means a kind of long slender Dutch merchant ship. In the 17th century, on the eastern coast of the estuary Kali Angke, a fluitschip called Het Whitte Paertwas was stranded and became unseaworthy.

Pluit pumps are in use continuously during the rainy season, especially since Pluit is located below sea level. Since its installation in 2002, the pumps have been useful in avoiding the seasonal flooding in the region that befalls Jakarta every four years.
