One is an Indonesian privately owned national television station based in East Jakarta. It used to be known as Lativi, but had its name changed after an ownership swap in February 2008. tvOne is owned by PT Visi Media Asia Tbk.
As part of the boom in national television stations in the 2000s, Lativi was one of 5 new national television networks which was granted a license to broadcast nationwide in Indonesia. It was initially owned by Abdul Latief, previously Minister of Labor and also a famous entrepreneur. The target audience of the network seems to have been the CDE socio-economic groups, with the genre focus being predominantly mystery and some semi-pornographic series.
TvOne In late 2006, Lativi was involved in a controversy regarding a 9-year-old boy who died after suffering injuries supposedly related to watching SmackDown!. Although nothing was proven regarding the circumstances of the death, Lativi succumbed and pulled all of its WWE program off the air on November 29, 2006..
By 2007, ownership of the network had transferred to Aburizal Bakrie and Erick Thohir due to debt and poor network management.
Then the husband wife team of Divi Lukmansyah and Nane Nindya anchored the 1st newscast. Among the 1st segments was an interview of was a grand re-launch and the television network officially started broadcasting on-air as tvOne on Thursday, 14 February 2008 at 19:30 local time. It was opened by then President of Indonesia, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and Vice President of Indonesia, Jusuf Kalla, at Merdeka Palace in Jakarta. Anindya Bakrie was named as the Chief Commissioner and Erick Thohir as the President Director.
One was the 2nd Indonesian television channel to have been officially inaugurated by the President of Indonesia himself.
One broadcasts a mixture of news and sports. The network is now more targeted towards A and B socio-economic groups. Currently, tvOne broadcasts formal and daily news and current affairs programming during the daily schedule and some sports and live events programming on most weekends and weeknights. Aside from its daily news bulletins, tvOne broadcasts a three-minute news summary every hour outside its bulletins and live breaking news.
